MCD Reports on Karol Bagh Building Collapse: 3 Dead, 14 Injured

Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued a statement regarding the collapse of a two-story building at 16/33-i in the Bapa Nagar area of Karol Bagh, which occurred around 9 AM today. The building, described as very old, collapsed, leading to significant casualties.

According to the MCD, teams from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and MCD arrived at the scene promptly after being notified. The rescue operation has now been completed. Preliminary reports indicate that 14 individuals sustained injuries, while three people tragically lost their lives in the incident.

The MCD noted that the area is classified as a Special Area, with the plot measuring approximately 25/30 square meters. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collapse. The MCD's Maintenance Department had conducted a pre-monsoon survey, which did not indicate that the building was in a dangerous condition. Additionally, there were no ongoing construction activities or building materials found at the site.
