Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of hawkers in Kolkata and across the state. Addressing the issue, Banerjee emphasized the importance of supporting the hawker community by providing state-colored carts for their goods and ensuring dedicated buildings with fire safety arrangements near markets.
Under the proposed plan, each district in West Bengal will adopt a similar system aimed at enhancing the working conditions and safety of hawkers. Banerjee stressed the need for collaborative efforts with the hawker committees in Kolkata to facilitate smooth implementation.
