Sikkim: A major landslide occurred this morning at 7:30 am at the NHPC Stage 5 dam site in Balutar, near Singtam town. The landslide damaged a GIS building of NHPC along with six residential houses in the area. The incident also caused major cracks along the Singtam Dikchu road, rendering it inaccessible.
Tushar Nikhare, the District Magistrate of Gangtok, stated that the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been instructed to begin immediate restoration work on the damaged road. The BRO has assured that efforts are underway to make the road operational as soon as possible. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the affected area.
