Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has revealed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s strong stance on the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, stating that she demands severe punishment for the culprits. Speaking to the media, Ghosh outlined the steps being taken by the West Bengal government to ensure justice is served swiftly.
“Mamata Banerjee wants the culprits to get severe punishment. There should be a time-bound trial and then hanging,” said Ghosh. He also mentioned that the Chief Minister has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the matter, emphasizing the urgency and seriousness with which the state is treating the case.
Ghosh further stated that a bill addressing this issue is likely to be passed in the West Bengal Assembly tomorrow, making TMC the first party in the country to introduce such legislation. “Everyone should support it,” he urged, highlighting the need for collective action against such heinous crimes.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for swift justice, and the proposed legislation aims to expedite the legal process and enforce strict penalties for such offenses.
