Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended the state government's spending practices, responding to criticism from the national secretary. Shivakumar emphasized that the funds are being allocated to benefit members of the same community. "It is a shame on the national secretary. If the national secretary is there, let the issue go to the central government. We have brought a law, whatever money we are spending, we are spending on the same community people," he stated. He noted that this approach was initially implemented in Andhra Pradesh before being adopted in Karnataka. Shivakumar reiterated that there is nothing wrong with these spending practices, aiming to ensure equitable distribution of resources.
