Joka-Taratala metro services to double from today

Metro officials also interacted with the students and teachers as well as office goers of this area to ascertain the required number of daily services at this moment.

 Kolkata: Good News for the Metro commuters! Now more Metro services are going to run on Joka-Taratala route( Purple Line).  As commuters have been demanding more services on this route, a detail survey has been conducted to study the pattern of footfalls on this stretch. Metro officials also interacted with the students and teachers as well as office goers of this area to ascertain the required number of daily services at this moment. Metro General Manager, Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy after analysing all the parameters and data gathered has decided to increase the number of daily services on Purple Line for the benefit of the people of Behala and adjoining areas.

 

From 01.05.2023 (Monday) Metro Railway is going to double its number of daily services on Purple Line within four months of commencement of services on that stretch.  From that day, 24 daily services (12 UP + 12 DN) instead of 12 services will be run in between Joka and Taratala from Monday to Friday following “One Train Only System”. This increase in services will meet the demand of the local people and help them to commute conveniently during peak hours as there will be continuous services available from morning to till the evening from Monday to Friday. Frequency of Metro services on Joka – Taratala stretch (From Monday to Friday) will be 40 minutes instead of 60 minutes. 

For the benefit of students , their parents and teachers first Metro from Joka will be available at 08.55 hrs. instead of 10.00 hrs as Metro is their preferred mode of transport. Last service from Joka will be available at 16.20 hrs . There will be no service gap from 12.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs from Joka on the UP direction.

 

First Metro from Taratala will be available at 09.20 hrs instead of 10.30 hrs and last service from Taratala will be available at 16.40 hrs. There will be no service gap from 12.30 hrs to 15.30 hrs from Taratala on the DN direction.

 

Kausik Mitra, CPRO, Metro Railway has said that the long standing demand of the office goers, students of different educational institutions and residents of the adjoining areas will be fulfilled. This increase in number of daily services in this route will benefit the people of this area. Metro officials will be monitoring the situation and continue to study the footfalls and take necessary actions in future, he added.

  

There will be no commercial services on Saturdays and Sundays on this stretch.
