Jharkhand: CM Champai Soren Wins Floor Test With 47 votes, 29 Oppose

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a recent development, the newly formed Champai Soren-led government passed the floor test conducted in the Jharkhand Assembly on 5th February, Monday in Ranchi, Jharkhand. 

The Champai Soren-led government secured 47 votes from MLAs of the Ruling JMM/Congress coalition while 29 MLAs voted against Champai Soren. Moreover, Champai Soren needed at least 41 votes to win the majority. JMM/Congress Alliance itself has 47 MLAs, BJP comprises 25 MLAs while All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) has three. Moreover, the NCP and left party have one each along with independent MLAs. The NCP MLA Kamlesh Kumar Singh from the Hussainabad constituency declared NCP as a proponent of NDA.

Champai Soren took oath as the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 2nd February. He was elected by the party members after former Chief Minister Hemant Soren resigned and was arrested by ED due to his alleged involvement in land and mining scam cases.
