Andhra Pradesh: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Visakhapatnam has issued a red alert for several districts in Andhra Pradesh as a depression over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal intensifies. Srinuvas, a representative from IMD Visakhapatnam, provided an update on the developing weather situation and the precautions being taken.

"The depression over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is currently located 120 km east of Visakhapatnam," Srinuvas explained. "It is expected to move further west-northwestwards, bringing widespread rain to Andhra Pradesh."

With the cyclone's potential to cause significant disruption, the IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall and strong winds across various parts of the state. "Under the influence of the depression in the Bay of Bengal, widespread rain is forecast for Andhra Pradesh," Srinuvas added. "Some districts have been given a red alert due to the expected severity of the weather conditions."

The IMD has also warned of rough to very rough sea conditions, urging the local fishermen community to avoid venturing into the sea. "Andhra Pradesh is experiencing strong winds, and the sea conditions range from rough to very rough," Srinuvas said. "We have advised all the fishermen community not to venture into the sea."

Local authorities are on high alert, closely monitoring the situation and preparing for any necessary emergency response measures. The IMD continues to update its forecasts and warnings as the depression progresses, aiming to ensure the safety of residents and mitigate potential damage from the cyclone.
