Mumbai, Maharashtra: Heavy rainfall in Mumbai has significantly impacted railway operations, leading to decreased train speeds and punctuality issues. CPRO Central Railways, Swapnil Dhanraj Nila, addressed the situation, stating, "Due to heavy rain, loco pilots have to decrease the speed as the visibility decreases due to wind and rain, and it affects the punctuality."
Authorities, including the municipal corporation, KDMC, and MCGA, have issued warnings advising residents to stay indoors unless in an emergency due to the red alert in place.
"We are monitoring the situation and we will take steps for safety measures as needed at times," added Nila, emphasizing the railways' commitment to ensuring passenger safety amidst the adverse weather conditions.
