Gonda Train Derailment: Ministry of Railways Announces Ex Gratia

In response to the tragic Gonda train derailment, the Ministry of Railways has announced ex gratia payments for the victims. Families of the deceased will receive Rs. 10 lakhs, those with grievous injuries will receive Rs. 2.5 lakhs, and individuals with minor injuries will receive Rs. 50,000.

In addition to the ongoing Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) enquiry, the Ministry has ordered a high-level enquiry to thoroughly investigate the incident. This dual approach aims to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the cause and to prevent future occurrences.
