BY A STAFF REPORTER: Formed amid the political crisis concerning Hemant Soren's arrest, the government led by Champai Soren will face a floor test to prove their majority in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday, 5th February.

Moreover, Champai Soren needs at least 41 votes to win the majority. JMM/Congress Alliance itself has 47 MLAs, BJP comprises 25 MLAs while All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) has three. Moreover, the NCP and left party have one each along with independent MLAs.

Furthermore, nearly 40 MLAs of the JMM/Congress Alliance arrived in Ranchi on Sunday after a three-day stay at a Hyderabad resort ahead of the test. Bihar's RJD/Congress alliance also pulled a similar move as they have also moved to Hyderabad ahead of the Bihar floor test. The move comes to escape BJP 'poaching' for the trust vote.

Champai Soren took oath as the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 2nd February. He was elected by the party members after former Chief Minister Hemant Soren resigned and was arrested by ED due to his alleged involvement in land and mining scam cases.
