Mandi (Himachal Pradesh): At least five people lost their lives and around 20 others sustained injuries after a bus plunged into a deep gorge near the Maseran area of Sarkaghat Sub-Division, approximately 60 kilometres from Mandi town, on Wednesday.

Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police, Mandi, Sakshi Verma said, “Police and local administration are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations.” The injured passengers have been admitted to the Sarkaghat Civil Hospital for treatment, where several are reported to be in critical condition.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, though preliminary reports suggest the driver may have lost control on a sharp bend along the hilly terrain. Local residents and emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene, helping with the immediate evacuation of passengers trapped in the wreckage.
