Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh: Renu Singh, Chief Forest Conservator of the Central Zone, announced the successful capture of a fifth wolf in the Bahraich district, marking a major breakthrough in an ongoing wildlife rescue operation. Singh praised the efforts of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and his team, stating that their strategy was key to the success.
"This is a huge success. Four wolves were captured earlier, and one more was caught today, making it a total of five wolves rescued so far," Singh stated.
The operation faced challenges as the wolves had become more elusive, learning to avoid detection by drones. Singh explained how the team adapted by stopping the use of drones in the final stages of tracking, relying instead on pug mark tracing to set up nets and capture the wolves. The latest wolf was caught early in the morning after it reportedly lifted a goat in Nathuwapur.
With one wolf still at large, Singh affirmed that efforts will continue to ensure its rescue. The captured wolves are expected to be transferred to a zoo for further care and protection.
