Mumbai | A ferry carrying approximately 60 people sank off the coast of Mumbai on Tuesday, sparking a major rescue operation by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). So far, 20 survivors have been rescued and are currently aboard the ICG ship Subhadra Kumari Chauhan.

Tragically, one dead body has been recovered during the ongoing operations. Multiple ICG vessels are combing the area in search of the remaining passengers. Officials stated that search and rescue efforts are being conducted on a war footing, but the fate of many onboard remains uncertain.

The cause of the accident is not yet clear. Indian Coast Guard officials said, “More details are being ascertained.” Meanwhile, authorities are coordinating efforts to ensure swift action and are preparing to provide medical assistance to survivors.
