BY A STAFF REPORTER: A 'fatwa' has been issued against Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, the chief Imam of All India Imam Organization (AIIMO) who joined the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Mandir on 22nd January in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
Issued on behalf of Mufti Sabir Hussaini, the fatwa encouraged other clerics of India to take action against the cleric who participated in the consecration ceremony.
Furthermore, Imam Ilyasi revealed that he has been receiving threats and facing protests for attending the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony. The cleric revealed that he would issue another Fatwa countering the current one. The grand Pran-Pratishtha ceremony was successfully carried out on Monday 22nd January, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief 'Yajman' and a sea of dignitaries participating in the ceremony.
The fatwa is a decree issued by an Islamic scholar, precisely jurist or mufti or by a recognized authority on a specific issue related to Islamic law (sharia).
