BY A STAFF REPORTER: Days after resigning from TMC, former TMC MLA Tapas Roy joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Kolkata, West Bengal on 6th March, Wednesday.

Moreover, Tapas Roy joined the BJP at the party office in the presence of Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar and West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari.

Veteran TMC MLA Tapas Roy resigned from the party on Monday predominantly due to an ED raid conducted at his flat on 12th February. Roy alleged that the raid was Sudip Banerjee's conspiracy as he carries malice against Tapas. The Sandeshkhali matter, a few scams, alleged ill-treatment and neglect were also among the reasons for his resignation. Moreover, Kunal Ghosh and Bratya Basu attempted to dissuade Tapas Roy but he resigned nonetheless. However, Kunal Ghosh requested him not to join any other party until the matter is sorted.
