BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, MK Stalin's DMK Party on Wednesday filed a complaint to the Election Commission of India against Union Minister Shobha Karandjale's recent remarks accusing people of Tamil Nadu of conspiring against the Rameshwaram Cafe Blast.

In the letter addressed to the ECI, DMK accused Shobha Karandjale of violating sections 123(3A) and 125 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and several clauses of the Model Code of Conduct, which has been imposed since the announcement of Lok Sabha election schedule. The clauses and sections predominantly prohibit political campaigners from spreading hate and aggravating or creating differences between castes, communities, religions, or linguistics.

It further alleged that Shobha Karandjale has promoted enmity and caused immense tension between the people of Tamil Nadu. Consequently, the DMK has demanded that ECI take stringent actions against Shobha Karandjale and the BJP.

Union Minister Shobha Karandjale referred to the Rameshwaram Cafe explosion incident and stated "People from Tamil Nadu come here, get trained there, plant bombs here and placed a bomb in the cafe" while addressing presspersons in Nagarthpete, Central Bengaluru on March 19, Tuesday.

However, Shobha Karandjale apologized to the people of Tamil Nadu for the statement through her X handle. She posted "To my Tamil brothers & sisters, I wish to clarify that my words were meant to shine light, not cast shadows. Yet I see that my remarks brought pain to some - and for that, I apologize. My remarks were solely directed towards those trained in the Krishnagiri forest,"

The NIA took over the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case on 5th March on the orders of the Home Ministry. Furthermore, a small-scale blast occurred at Bengaluru's famous Rameshwaram Cafe, Karnataka on 1st March. The blast resulted in nine injuries.
