BY A STAFF REPORTER: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given the nod to introduce four additional National Cadet Corps (NCC) Units in the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday 8th January.

The additional units will include a mixed-gender Army battalion (consisting of males and females) in Udhampur, Kupwara, and Kargil along with an air battalion in Udhampur. The approved proposal aims to raise cadet strength by 46.1% as 12,860 cadets will be added to the existing number of 27,870 cadets.

As of now, the directorate consists of two group headquarters, comprising 10 NCC units encompassing all three geographical regions. The addition is believed to bolster confidence youth's confidence in the region and encourage them to substantially contribute to the nation-building process.
