PUDUCHERRY: The Cyclone currently located in the Bay of Bengal is projected to move west-northwest and make landfall near Puducherry tomorrow (November 30, 2024) around noon, according to the Puducherry Fisheries Department.

During the landfall, wind speeds are expected to reach 70-80 km/h, with gusts of up to 90 km/h. The department has also forecast rough sea conditions, urging residents and fishermen to take necessary precautions.

In a detailed advisory, the Fisheries Department instructed fishermen to immediately relocate their fishing boats and equipment to higher grounds to minimize the risk of damage. "Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea as conditions are likely to worsen," the department warned.

The state government is closely monitoring the situation, and local authorities have been directed to ensure the safety of coastal communities. Emergency teams are on standby, and shelters have been prepared to accommodate people from vulnerable areas if evacuation becomes necessary.

Citizens are urged to stay updated on weather bulletins and follow official instructions to remain safe during this period of potentially hazardous weather.
