Kolkata, West Bengal — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an update on Cyclone Dana, currently positioned over the East Central Bay of Bengal. IMD Scientist Habibur Rahman Biswas revealed that the cyclone’s central location is approximately 570 km from Sagar Island and 490 km from Paradip as of 11:30 AM today.
Speaking about the forecast, Biswas said, "It is likely to move northwestward and intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm by tomorrow morning."
The cyclone is expected to make landfall between the night of October 24 and the morning of October 25. During landfall, the cyclone is projected to bring wind speeds ranging between 100-110 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 120 kilometers per hour.
Authorities have been alerted, and preparations are underway to handle the severe weather conditions expected during the cyclone's landfall. Coastal areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols as issued by local disaster management teams.
