In a significant step towards elevating aviation security standards, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched an Internal Quality Control Unit (IQCU) to oversee security at 68 airports across India. This initiative aligns with the National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programme-2024 (NCASQCP) and the Aircraft (Security) Rules-2023, issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

The IQCU will operate under the Aviation Security Control Center (ASCC), inaugurated on July 22, 2023, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Equipped with cutting-edge facilities such as the Incident Management Centre, Aviation Research and Data Centre, and Centralized Communication Control Centre, the ASCC aims to tackle current and emerging security challenges. Notably, the IQCU will also cover airports under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAAN), ensuring standardized security measures nationwide.

Headed by a senior CISF officer and a team of certified aviation security experts, the IQCU will focus on:

Standardization of Procedures: Ensuring uniform security protocols through consistent training and evaluations.

Technological Advancements: Testing and recommending innovative technologies based on global best practices.

Internal Audits: Conducting inspections and audits to assess and enhance security operations.

Quality Control Monitoring: Reviewing and updating security protocols to maintain compliance and efficiency.

Feedback Analysis: Leveraging feedback to identify operational gaps and improve performance.

CISF stated that the IQCU's efforts would strengthen security at Indian airports, mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to international aviation security standards. This move underscores the CISF’s commitment to maintaining a robust and resilient aviation security framework.
