Faridabad, Haryana: A dramatic rescue operation unfolded late last night as two individuals were rescued from a submerged car in a waterlogged underpass in Faridabad. The incident occurred around 11 pm when two men, identified as Punnashray Sharma, a bank manager from Faridabad, and Viraj Trivedi, a cashier from Gurugram, drove into the underpass despite police warnings.
The underpass had been severely affected by waterlogging, and police were stationed on duty to prevent vehicles from entering. Despite their efforts to stop the car, Sharma and Trivedi proceeded into the flooded area, where their vehicle was soon overtaken by the rising water.
Faridabad Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Yashpal reported that Punnashray Sharma was rescued from the water at approximately 12 am. However, Viraj Trivedi remained trapped until the following morning. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called in to assist with the rescue, and Trivedi was successfully retrieved by their team later in the day.
Both men were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the decisions made by the individuals involved. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by severe waterlogging and the importance of adhering to safety measures during adverse weather conditions.
