BY A STAFF REPORTER: India sealed their border with Bangladesh as violence erupted in Dhaka and surrounding areas forcing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana to flee the country.
The director general of police, BSF, Daljit Chawdhary rushed to Eastern Theatre and took stock of the situation with senior officials. Students and youths celebrated on the streets of Dhaka. But the situation has deteriorated in the rural areas with reports of arson and looting of houses and places of worship of minority Hindu communities in Bangladesh pouring in from different areas.
Although Army chief Waquar-uz-Zaman took charge and addressed the nation and formed an interim government, law and order conditions continued to deteriorate and rural areas became completely lawless.
