BJP Risked 99% of Population's Peace: Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav

BY A STAFF REPORTER: As Ladakh witnessed large-scale protests for the restoration of statehood, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday accused the BJP of putting 99% population's happiness, tranquility, and peace on stakes for the sake of 1% of billionaires

In his recent X (formerly Twitter) post targeting BJP, he stated "lakhs of people gathered against BJP in Leh-Ladakh are a testament to BJP's attempt of oppressing the nation by dividing it from all the directions including North, South, East and West. He further alleged that the BJP has risked 99% population's happiness, tranquility, and peace on stakes for the sake of 1% of billionaires. 

A large crowd staged a protest in the Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh responding to a shutdown call against constitutional amendments through the abrogation of Article 370. The protesters were demanding statehood for Ladakh, which is currently a Union Territory without legislature since 2019.
