Environment minister talks about delhi pollution

By A Staff Reporter — In Delhi, as air and water pollution continue to plague the public, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi has criticized the AAP-led government, questioning the handling of funds allocated for pollution control in the Yamuna River. Ilmi’s remarks came in the wake of BJP leader Virendraa Sachdeva’s recent health issues after participating in a symbolic dip in the Yamuna. Sachdeva, who took the dip two days ago to protest against the river's contamination, has since been admitted to the hospital due to health complications allegedly linked to the water’s toxic state.

“This isn’t just a political issue; it’s about the health and safety of Delhi’s people,” Ilmi emphasized, referencing the ongoing challenges faced by residents. “Where have the Rs 3,000 crore funds, earmarked for the people of Delhi and the Yamuna, gone? The public here is struggling to breathe,” she added, noting that floating toxic foam is visibly polluting the river.

Amid worsening air quality, water pollution adds another layer to Delhi’s environmental woes. Ilmi expressed frustration over the apparent lack of accountability regarding funds intended for pollution control and urged immediate action for better public health and environmental quality in Delhi.
