Haryana: The political tension in Haryana has escalated ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections, with recruitment processes becoming a focal point of contention. The Election Commission recently halted ongoing government recruitment in the state, sparking accusations between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.
The BJP, which has governed Haryana for the past decade, claims that over 150,000 government jobs have been provided to unemployed citizens since 2014. The party has promoted a new transparent recruitment policy, eliminating the need for bribery or recommendations to secure government positions.
However, Congress has raised concerns about the recruitment processes, leading to delays in job results. Alleging violations of the electoral code of conduct, Congress's interference has reportedly stalled recruitment for over 24,000 posts, including 5,600 Haryana Police jobs and numerous teaching positions.
The Election Commission, after reviewing Congress's complaints, found the recruitment to be in line with current guidelines but instructed that results should not be declared until after the elections.
In response to the delays, frustrated unemployed youth took to the streets, protesting outside Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence. Clashes erupted between demonstrators and the police, highlighting the anger over stalled employment opportunities.
As the election approaches, BJP is striving to secure a third term while emphasizing its commitment to job creation, free of corruption. Meanwhile, Congress faces growing protests for allegedly hindering employment in the state.
