BY A STAFF REPORTER: A day after Arvind Kejriwal's arrest, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee condemned Delhi CM Kejriwal's arrest and notified that INDIA Bloc will meet the Election Commission regarding the matter on March 22, Friday.

Taking it to her X handle, Banerjee stated that she vehemently condemned the arrest. Moreover, she extended her support to Delhi CM's wife, Sunita Kejriwal. She further added "It's outrageous that while elected opposition CMs are being deliberately targeted and arrested while individuals accused under CBI/ED investigations are allowed to continue their malpractices with impunity, especially after aligning with the BJP. This is a blatant assault on democracy."

Banerjee also shared that the INDIA alliance will meet the EC to express their objection to the alleged deliberate targeting and arrests of opposition leaders, particularly during the MCC period. Also, the TMC has designated Derek O'Brien and Mohammad Nadimul Haque to represent the party during the meeting.

Moreover, Kejriwal withdrew the plea as the hearing was clashing with the hearing in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court. However, Arvind Kejriwal will submit the plea to the Supreme Court later.

Justice Sanjiv Khanna was assigned to hear Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest.

He will also be produced in the Rouse Avenue Court at 2:30 PM today. Section 144 has been imposed in the areas surrounding the Court.

Furthermore, the Delhi Police has detained several protesters including Delhi Ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj at ITO, New Delhi.

Moreover, Atishi asserted that AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will remain the Delhi CM after his arrest and run Delhi from the lockup.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal from his residence in connection with the Delhi Liquorgate case. He was arrested following search operations and Interrogations conducted by the ED at his residence on Thursday evening.

Arvind Kejriwal is the second sitting CM arrested by the ED in the last two months. Earlier, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was arrested on 31st January by the ED in connection with the Land Scam and Mining Scam cases.
