After failure of Manipur government, leaders appeal for peace

According to informed sources, a complete failure of intelligence machinery of Manipur police and lack of political will of chief minister N Biren Singh allowed the situation to deteriorate.

The tribal affairs minister of Manipur Letpao Haokip is a Kuki from More, the epicentre of violence between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur. According to informed sources, a complete failure of intelligence machinery of Manipur police and lack of political will of chief minister N Biren Singh allowed the situation to deteriorate. Thousands of people have been displaced, houses burnt to ashes, and people killed in mindless violence as administrative machinery totally collapsed. Union minister of state for external affairs and Manipur MP, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh appealed for peace and harmony. Leaders cutting across party lines urged people to restrain themselves. “Kuki, Meitei and other communities are all Manipuris and we should not destroy the fabric of harmony,” Singh said
