The Home Ministry has confirmed a major success in the fight against Naxalism, following an encounter at Lugu Hills in Bokaro, Jharkhand, where security forces neutralized eight Maoists, including a top-level Naxal leader, Vivek.
In a tweet, the Home Ministry hailed the operation as another step forward in the government's ongoing mission to eliminate Naxalism. “Our march to eliminate Naxalism continues unabated,” the ministry said, adding, “Today, security forces achieved another significant success in the ongoing operation to uproot Naxalism.”
Vivek, who carried a reward of Rs 1 crore for information leading to his capture, was one of the key targets of the operation. Along with him, two other notorious Naxalites were also neutralized in the encounter.
The operation is ongoing, and security forces are continuing their efforts to dismantle the Naxal network in the region. The success has been lauded as a crucial blow to the Naxal insurgency, which has long plagued various parts of India, particularly in rural and forested areas.
