Bathinda, Punjab | A fatal bus accident in Bathinda left eight people dead, including a 2-year-old girl, after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speed. The tragedy occurred on Thursday, plunging the local community into mourning.
Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda, Showkat Ahmad Parray, provided details about the incident. "Unfortunately, 8 people have died, including a 2-year-old girl. Five of them succumbed to their injuries at Talwandi hospital, while the other three lost their lives at the civil hospital in Bathinda," Parray confirmed.
Of the eight victims, five have been identified, while efforts are underway to determine the identities of the remaining three. Officials revealed that the bus was traveling at high speed, which caused the driver to lose control, leading to the accident.
Deputy Commissioner Parray assured the public that the government would provide all possible assistance to the affected families. "All the help that the government can do will be extended to the families," he said.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to aid the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals. Local authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety and speeding, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. As the community mourns the lives lost, efforts to support the grieving families are being prioritized by the administration.
