TRINIDAD DCP CALLS OUT OFFICERS ON LEAVE TO FACILITATE REMOVAL OF SOE

By a staff reporter: Some 200 additional police officers are expected to be called out from vacation and other leave to augment the current staff. This from Deputy CoP Mc Donald Jacob as he responded to reporter questions at the TTPS weekly media briefing on Thursday.

According to Mr Jacob the move is to facilitate the removal of the State of Emergency in the country as well as the upcoming Christmas and Tobago election season. He also noted that recent graduates will also be included in this batch. It is expected that the new arrangements will be implanted in one week’s time and span over a one month period.

Meanwhile Mr Jacob also responded to questions and concerns following crowd actions in Tobago for Monday’s nomination day process. He confirmed that no arrests were made nor were tickets issued to anyone for breaking the PH measures as the public would have seen only some footage, rather than the entire process.
