By a staff reporter:
The Trinidad and Tobago, Unified Teachers Association is concerned about continuous disruptions at schools, linked to COVID-19. Over the past 2 weeks or so, several schools on both islands have reported cases of the virus among staff and students alike forcing the suspension of classes for many. Although there was no school-specific information, there are at least six schools that had outbreaks reported in the public domain. These are the Shiva Boys Hindu College, Princes Town East Secondary School, Iere High School, St Augustine Girls’ High School, Bishop Anstey East and Trinity College East High School. And with the figure set to increase given the continuation of physical classes and recent waves, Ms De Freitas said that she anticipates that it will only get worse given the fact that in many instances, the correct protocols are not being adhered to.
