100 YEAR'S OF POPPY CANADA

With the Remembrance Day round the corner 11th of November , Poppies are in full bloom as Canadians wear the tiny red flower in Honour of those who fought for the country.

This November Canadians are commemorating something else too. The Poppy marks the 100 years as a SYMBOL of Remembrance Day.

Poppy's use as a symbol was inspired by a Poem.

Many may be familiar with John McCrae's "IN FLANDERS FIELD"

It was this poem that inspired the use of Poppy on Remembrance Day.

WHY? "IN FLANDERS FIELD THE POPPY'S BLOW" is how the Poem begins.

These Poppy's grew on the Battlefield's where debris remained. The Lime in the rubble acted as the fertilizer for the Poppy's . So that is Why Poppy's have been adopted as the flower for our Remembrance Day. To pay respects and Remember our fallen Soldiers.

It is basically worn on the left side whether it is on the Lapel, Collar, or Chest so that it remains close to the heart as possible.

So I end with Wishing all the People and Canadians a very Happy Remembrance Day.
