TT NURSING ASSOCIATION SAYS STAFF FACING CONTINUOUS EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL TURMOIL

By a staff Reporter: Following one nurse’s account of what really happens on the ICU ward at covid-19 facilities in TT, the emotional and physical turmoil faced by nurses, was brought to light.

IENews spoke with President of the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association Idi Stuart on Tuesday, for some insight. He said that vaccine hesitancy cannot be blamed for the strain placed on nurses as each individually is entitled to make an informed decision. But, despite this, he added that ICU and HDU admissions should not overflow into the traditional health care system and if so…the onus is on the individual.

Regarding the relief of nurses, Mr Stuart explained that with cases again on the rise, the various Regional Health Authorities have already started to limit staff vacations. Mr Stuart said that nurses have been burnt out long before the pandemic and that covid-19 lent them no favours.
