Trinidad and Tobago will see the Pressures on prices

Trinidad and Tobago will see the Pressures on prices of not just food items, but goods which is currently due to disruptions at international ports. This according to president of the supermarket association of Trinidad and Tobago Rajiv Diptee.

During an interview with IENews on Saturday, Mr Diptee explained that WITH the new list of basic foods items, which are now VAT free, coming into effect from Monday, November 1st, it is something to be looked at heading into 2022 but, he noted that supply will only meet demand when the international market begins to recover.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley confirmed that Trinidad and Tobago will be impacted by the global supply chain disruptions and clogs. And so when asked if the shipping disruptions will counteract the government’s VAT removal move, Mr Diptee had this to say…
