He is accused of murdering his uncle in Bangladesh. With the help of touts and fundamentalists, he managed to cross over to India. He even obtained an Adhar card with the help of forged documents. But his luck finally ran out as he was arrested by the intelligence agencies. Chandan Mondol, a resident of Mongla port area of Khulna had crossed over to India and taken refuge in North 24 Parganas. During the course of interrogation, he revealed that Jehad Ali Mondal, a local Muslim cleric of Andulpota, Akipur, North 24 Parganas had converted him into Islam and became Abdul Khalek Mondol. He claimed that he was tasked with activities in Bangladesh. He was trying to return to his home land when intelligence agencies and BSF arrested him on September 14. Senior officials are interrogating him to find out how he had managed to obtain an Aadhar card with forged documents.
