BSF THWARTED SMUGGLING ATTEMPT THROUGH RIVER AND SEIZED FISH SEEDS

On 15 June, 2021, the BSF troops of South Bengal Frontier seized 42 polybags containing fish seeds worth Rs 6,15,000/-. These fish seeds were being smuggled to Bangladesh from India through the location of Border Out Post Kalutalla, North 24 Pargana border district.



On 15 June, 2021, on specific intelligence input regarding smuggling of fish seeds, BSF troops of Border Out Post Kalutalla, 85 Batallion, under Sector Kolkata got alerted and carried out a special boat patrolling in Icchamati river. At about 0220 hours, boat patrolling party observed floating of some suspected items (potla) through the current of water in Ichhamati river. Immediately BSF troops reached towards the object and seized these items. After a thorough search of the area, patrolling party recovered 42 polybags containing fish seeds.





The seized fish seeds handed over to Police Station Hasnabad for further legal action. Shri Anurag Mani, Commanding Officer, 85 Battalion BSF has expressed happiness on the achievements of his troops which resulted seized fish seed. He stated that this could only be possible due to the alertness and vigilance exhibited by his troops on duty. He further stated that his troops are fully determined and committed to fulfill the resolution of Zero Smuggling to transborder crimes, a campaign launched by the the IG, South Bengal Frontier BSF, Kolkata.
