 When taliban rule was established in Afghanistan in 1996. India did not approve of taliban rule at that time. Later, in the next chapter of 9/11, India's diplomatic relations with Afghanistan were renewed. Since then India has invested in all the provinces of that country.

One of these is the Salma Dam. The dam is considered a symbol of Afghan-India relations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Afghanistan in June 2016 to inaugurate the dam in Herat province. Built at a cost of $3billion, the hydropower plant is India's largest project in Afghanistan. Taliban rule returns to Afghanistan. Now the question remains as to what is the future of this dam. But the Taliban has assured that there will be no damage to the dam.
