BSF APPREHENDED 01 INDIAN SMUGGLER RED-HANDED WITH SILVER ORNAMENTS WORTH Rs 3.43 LAKH.*

On 26 August, 2021 Border Security Force under South Bengal Frontier apprehended 6.8 kg of silver jewellery along with 01 Indian smuggler. The value of seized silver ornaments Rs 3,43,658/-. The smuggler was trying to illegally smuggle these ornaments from India to Bangladesh through the general responsibility area of Border Out Post Amudia, 112 Battalion, North 24 Parganas.



On 26 August, 2021 at around 0930 hrs, on the basis of Intelligence Inputs, two BSF intelligence personnel at Border Out Post Amudia, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata laid an ambush near Chituri village and also informed the Company Commander about it. After a while, they saw a suspicious person on a bicycle coming towards Chituri from village Balti. The BSF Intelligence personnel tried to stop him but the smuggler tried to run away. At the same time, the Company Commander along with his team reached at the spot and the person was apprehended. After his apprehension, he was searched. During the searched, silver ornaments were recovered from the smuggler whose total weight was 6.800 kg. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as 1) Bakul Ghazi, age about 37 years, S/o- Islam Ghazi, Village- Tarali Dakshin Pada, Post Office- Hakimpur, Police Station- Swaroop Nagar, District- North 24 Parganas.



During preliminary interrogation, the apprehended person revealed that he does petty smuggling work for his survival. He revealed that today (26 August 2021) this material was taken from Bapi (Village Datta Para, Post Office – Bithari, Thana – Swaroop Nagar, District – North 24 Parganas) at Dattapara and further from Amudia village to Balti, via Chituri had to give to Shahid (Village – Kakdanga, Post Office – Kakdanga, Police Station – Kalrua, District – Satkhira, Bangladesh). For which he has to get ₹ 1000. But the Border Security Force personnel caught him.



The apprehended person along with silver ornaments has been handed over to Customs Office Tetulia for further legal action.



Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion has expressed happiness over the achievements of his troops as a result of which 112 Battalion has seized about 6.8 kgs of Silver ornaments along with 01 Indian National. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his troops on duty.
