 By a Staff Reporter: Several people were killed amid firing by Taliban and stampede during an Independence Day rally when people were hoisting the national flag, a witness stated. Witness Mohammed Salim from the eastern city, the capital of Kunar province said, it was not clear if the casualties came from the firing or from a stampede it triggered. It was unclear if the casualties in Asadabad were a result of firing or from a stampede. "Hundreds of people came out on the streets," Salim said. "At first, I was scared and didn't want to go but when I saw one of my neighbours joined in, I took out the flag I have at home. Several people were killed and injured in the stampede and firing by the Taliban."The incident comes after the Taliban declared Independence Day on Thursday and stated its victory over "the arrogant of power of the world".
