The top Taliban leadership are saddled in close door meetings as US forces evacuate Americans and allies out of Kabul. ANM News has learnt that Mullah Abdul Ghani Barader, raised in Kandahar and co-founded Taliban with one eyed cleric Mullah Omar, is set to lead the new Afghan government. Baradar was arrested in Pakistan in 2010 but President Donald Trump forced the Pak government to free him for peace negotiations in 2018.
Baradar had relocated himself in Qatar since then and directed Taliban operations from Doha.
Haibatullah Akhundzada is a low profile religious leader and close associate of Al Qaeda chief Ayman Al Zawahiri and succeeded Mullah Mansoor Akhter following his death in a drone strike. Mullah Yaqub,
son of Taliban co-founder Mullah Omar is head of the military commission while
Sirajuddin Haqqani, is the deputy leader of the Taliban and heads the infamous Haqqani network.
