BSF APPREHENDED A SMUGGLER ALONG WITH MEDICINES WORTH RS. ONE LAKH

An Indian smuggler was nabbed by BSF on Thursday evening in the border area of District Nadia, West Bengal along with different types of medicines worth Rs. one lakh. These medicines were being smuggled to Bangladesh from the area of Border Out Post Haldarpada. The incident is of evening of 10 June, 2021, when the troops of the Border Out Post Haldarpara of 54 Battalion, went out on a special patrol on the basis of information received by the Intelligence Branch. At about 1630 hrs, Patrolling party saw a motorcycle coming from village Haldarpara, whose identity was as per the information. When Patrolling party signaled him to stop, the motorcyclist immediately started turning back. But the alert troops immediately arrested him and on searching recovered medicines along with a mobile phone from his possession. After that the apprehended person was brought to Border Out Post Haldarpara.
During preliminary questioning he revealed that his name is Hrithik Biswas (age- 22 years), S/o- Basudev Biswas, Village- Banpur. He further stated that he had taken these medicines from a person named Bapin from mazdia and was to handover these to Sagar Biswas and Prashanjit Bhattacharya, residents of Gede. Those people were going to smuggle it to Bangladesh. He got Rs. 500 for this work.
Apprehnded person was handed over to PS Krishnaganj along with the seized items for further legal action.
Shri Deshraj Singh, Commanding Officer of 54 BN BSF, said that the Border Security Force is taking strict action to prevent smuggling of various types of goods along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to which smugglers involved in such crimes are facing a lot of difficulties. Some of them are being caught and they are also being punished according to the law.
