BY A STAFF REPORTER: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a warm welcome at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi after the results of the assembly elections in the three northeastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya were announced. With the announcement of the results of the Tripura Assembly elections on Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power in the state with an absolute majority. According to the Election Commission of India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 32 seats with about 39 per cent of the vote. Tipra Motha Party came second with 13 seats. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 11 seats and the Congress three seats. The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) won one seat.
