Know about the origin of the word 'Holi'

By A Staff Reporter : The word Holi is derived from the word 'hola'.And this hola word means thanking God in anticipation of an early harvest.According to many, the word Holi is derived from the Sanskrit word 'holka'. Which means semi-ripe grain.In some states of India like Punjab, Haryana etc. there is a custom of eating half ripe wheat and chickpeas.
