March 6 is the day of 'Holika Dahan', know it's mythological story

By A Staff Reporter : On the day before Dol, 'Holika Dahan' clebrated. On March 6 this year, 'Holika Dahan' can be done during Pradosh. It symbolizes the destruction of evil forces. According to mythology, King Hiranyakashyapu believed himself to be God. He would kill that person who worshiped other gods and goddesses besides him.But the king's son Prahlad was a devotee and worshiper of Vishnu.Seeing his son's devotion to Vishnu, Hiranyakashapu decided to kill him.He seeks the help of his sister Holika for this.Holika received a sheet from Brahma as a blessing. If she covers himself with that sheet, he will not be harmed in the fire.So Holika took Prahlad in her lap and covered her body with that sheet and sat in the fire. But with Vishnu's blessing the sheet flies and covers Prahlad and Holika is burnt in fire. This is how the 'Holika Dahan' begins. It is marked as the day of victory of religion over adharma.
