BY A STAFF REPORTER: Mohammad Rahmatullah Syed Ahmed, a 32-year-old Indian national, was shot dead by Australian police for allegedly stabbing a cleaner and threatening police officers with a knife at the Auburn train station in western Sydney. The Consulate General of India in Australia has identified that the attacker hailed from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and was living in Auburn on a bridging visa. Detectives are investigating whether mental health has any role in the incident. According to detectives, Ahmed stabbed a cleaner and later threatened the police officers. Ahmed attacked the 28-year-old cleaner at the Auburn train station in western Sydney at 12:03 a.m. on Tuesday, police said.
