BY A STAFF REPORTER: Polling is scheduled to be held in 59 of the 60 assembly constituencies in Meghalaya today, with around 19,000 polling personnel on poll duty. Security has been beefed up to keep the law and order situation in the state under control, officials said. Eleven zonal magistrates, 73 sector magistrates and around 30 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) agencies have been deployed in the district for a fair election. Each polling team will have four personnel. 30 CAPF agencies have been deployed at risky and important polling stations. The Meghalaya CEO said around 19,000 polling personnel have been deployed in the election process. The Election Commission has deployed 119 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in Meghalaya.
