Heavy rain causes flood and landslide in Karnataka, 9 dead

The dead include four residents of Uttar Kannada, two residents of Belagavi, the other three from Chikmagaluru, Dharwad and Kodagu. A total of seven places have collapsed, 2600 houses have been damaged. 58,000 hectares of agricultural land has been washed away by the floods. The 555 km road is virtually blocked. 3500 electric posts fell into a vast area without electricity.
