BY A STAFF REPORTER: National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 to recognize the contribution of scientists in the development of the country. On February 28, 1928, indian physicist Chandrasekhara Venkata made an important discovery in the field of Raman spectroscopy, which was later named after him - the Raman effect. The Government of India declared 28 February as National Science Day (NSD) in 1986. On February 28, Sir CV Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his discovery of the Raman effect. On this occasion, theme-based science communication activities were conducted across the country.
