BY A STAFF REPORTER: The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria has risen to 17,176, authorities said. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who visited the affected areas of the southern city of Gaziantep on Thursday, said the death toll in Turkey had risen to at least 14,014. According to the White Helmets Civil Defense Group, the total death toll in Syria is at least 3,162, including 1,900 in rebel-held areas in the northwest and 1,262 in syrian government-controlled areas.
